Australia’s softest hammock – guaranteed!! The TravelJumbo hammock is the result of a chance meeting between a Swiss textile engineer and the hill tribe weavers of the northern jungles of Thailand 30 years ago.
These hammocks are made from a unique acrylic yarn material that is super soft, weather resistant and has beautiful deep colours.
After meeting the hill tribe community and discovering their skill in weaving Peter, the textile engineer brought his knowledge of hammock making to the ladies of the Lahu hilltribe.
For the last 30 years they have been weaving the worlds most beautiful and technically brilliant hammocks. After discovering these hammocks in 2012 I decided to bring them to Australia.

The TravelJumbo design comprises 350 individual strands of yarn, each 3.75m long, equating to a total of 1.3KM of yarn. It takes a Lahu weaver 4 days to complete 95 turns on each of the 350 strands resulting in approximately 35,000 loops per hammock.
The greater the number of loops in a woven fabric is a direct indication of the quality.
Handwoven using Mexican “1/1 interloop” technique with Acrylic yarn.
